Role and margin
What PawPals does in each pool
| Pool | PawPals role | Revenue model | Margin character | Take range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Food & Treats | Discovery, recommendation and referral — never inventory | Affiliate rate on attributed orders, sponsored recommendation, retail media | Very high — pass-through economics | 2% – 8% |
| Veterinary Care & Products | Vet discovery, qualified lead, appointment booking, tele-vet referral | Lead fee, booking fee, new-patient fee, enterprise contract — not a share of medical spend | High — lead-based, no clinical liability | 0% – 3% |
| Supplies, Live Animals & OTC | Travel-and-activity-triggered product demand, gear recommendation | Affiliate, marketplace take rate, sponsored placement | High as affiliate, moderate as marketplace | 3% – 10% |
| Other Services | Core PawPals territory — booking, verification, merchant relationship | Transaction take rate, merchant SaaS, promoted placement | Moderate to high — payment and support costs apply | 5% – 15% |
PawPals does not take a share of veterinary medical spend, does not underwrite insurance and does not hold inventory. Pool sizes describe the surrounding economy; PawPals monetises discovery, booking, referral and merchant visibility within it.
Investor implication
The services pool is small in absolute terms and by far the most accessible. The food pool is enormous and barely accessible. A model that assumes even 1% of food spend is dishonest; a model that ignores services density is underweighting the only pool PawPals genuinely controls.
